After reading forgottendaze's post, although I agree that copyright infringement is a huge problem in today's society, I do not feel that the answer posted by forgottendaze would work. Forgottendaze posted that if the product was a quality product, then people would not look to take it for free on the internet, and would instead choose to purchase it because it was of such a high quality. The reason I have a problem with this is because it is difficult to distinguish what is of high quality to different people. Different people view things in different ways, and this is purely opinion based. What may be viewed as high quality to one person may be viewed as garbage to another. Also, if someone has a chance of obtaining something for free and being able to get away with it, nine times out of ten that person will go for it. This is the reason this is such a huge problem in the world today. No matter how high a person's morals may be, it is very difficult to convince them not to exploit certain items that are distributed over the internet. Until better laws come out that will punish people upon them "stealing" over the internet, this will continue to be a problem in the world.

This is the third or fourth news story I have seen involving the topic of child pornography. It is rediculous how often these news stories come about and how much of a problem child pornography is becoming. The man arrested in this incident is being put away for a 12 month sentence. I feel like this a solid way to deal with these people who need their dose of child pornography, but I would like to know what the punishment would be for a second, third or fourth offense. I don't believe that these types of urges can be stopped, and these people need their fill of whatever it is that gets them off. I feel that if these people are found guilty for a second offense and so on, not only should the punishments increase, and increase harshly, but I feel that they should also be charged fines that make it impossible for them to live financially is caught again. Creating such scary scenarios will cause these people to think twice, and eventually, not to think about this subject matter at all.

The blog I am writing upon deals with sex toys getting banned in South Carolina. It says that you could be fined either $10,ooo or you could get up to a year in jail for your first offense. These laws are absurd. What is the point of banning items such as these. There are so many worse things oing on in the world, it makes no sense that our authorities are taking time out to deal with issues as minute as these. I feel that if people want to express and to enjoy themselves in ways such as these behind closed doors, then that should be their own perogative and they should have a choice as to how they are going to live their life. As long as these sexual toys are kept in private and not paraded around, they hurt nobody, and serve the lone purpose of making people happy.

In my opinion, the city is overreacting on this matter. The city is making this seem as if the fire fighters committed some sort of mortal sin. When someone incrimates someone for looking at pornography in a situation like this, I cannot help but believe that they are being totally hypocritical. Reacting in a situation like this, when it is almost guaranteed that half of the station looks at pornography anyways should not be allowed. I feel that disciplining the fire fighters would be a viable explanation, but making it a public matter and bringing the police into the situation is totally unacceptable. As far as situations like these are concerned, I feel a slap on the wrist should be the penalty for a first offense (a warning) and then if it takes place again, further punishment could be instituted. Getting the authorities involved, however is totally unnecessary.
